Over the past years Blue Chip has adopted a policy of no compromise when it comes to quality of training and safety standards. We manage this by maintaining strict training discipline and an approved syllabus which is continually being upgraded and adapted to ensure the highest possible compliance standards with the ever changing demands of the international training standards.
We never forget that we deal with people. Caring for the individual is paramount. Our students must feel that they ‘belong’. No individual is simply ‘processed’. We are one of the few schools that analyse student personality profiles before pairing them with most compatible instructors; to assist with this we are fortunate to have our own Clinical Psychologist who is a part time Instructor at Blue Chip Flight School.
At Blue Chip Flight school we are dedicated to individual performance and the monitoring of each student in terms of their successes and struggles. If any intervention would be needed to assist the student in order to excel, we will use all resources available to support the student to be professional, proficient, and knowledgeable to succeed in our training program and pursue a successful flying career
There are several advantages to this, least of which is the experience gained from the cockpit environment on actual approaches, to flying into busy international airports like O.R Tambo.
The student observes the flight planning process, instrument approaches and border crossings into other countries.
In addition to the experience, students have the opportunity to network with other charter pilots and associated support personnel.
The school holds regular safety evenings which are open to everyone, where topics of relevance are discussed in depth, making use of experts in the relevant topic being used as presenters.
When you join Blue Chip Flight School, you are joining a family, and not just another training institution. This becomes evident when you walk into the offices in the mornings and everyone greets you by name. We refuse to treat any individual as just a number. This is clearly stated in our motto,
“Big Enough to Compete and Small Enough to Care”

Superb Flight Training is a small flying school, run by experienced instructors who enjoy sharing their love of flying with students. We all instruct because we enjoy it, and you will find the experience very different from the average commercial flying school.
Our instructors are mostly aged around 40, and bring a wealth of experience to their instruction. Several have experience as instructors on large jets. All training takes place under the guidance of our in-house Designated Flight Examiner, Class I.
Our aim is to provide a solid basis for your future flying, whether you intend to fly your own aeroplane, airliners or even helicopters. We use small training aircraft, but you will learn perspectives that are not limited to light planes. We have made a huge effort to expose ourselves to airline, helicopter and charter operations, so that we will not teach you anything that you will have to un-learn later.
The school operates from Kitty Hawk, a privately-owned airfield on the eastern edge of Pretoria. A thriving flying fraternity operates from here, with over 100 resident aircraft and a handsome clubhouse providing meals and functions. Kitty Hawk is only ten minutes from Wapadrand and within reach of the eastern suburbs of Pretoria.
We also provide a range of advanced instruction services. We can offer Flight Reviews and Instrument Proficiency Checks to revalidate pilot certificates issued by the FAA in the USA. We also offer tailor-made advanced training on a range of aircraft, including Part 135 and Part 121 recurrent and initial training for professional pilots and type ratings on a range of turboprop and jet aircraft.
Generally, two of our instructors are there full-time, with the others being available mostly on weekends and before or after work.
