noun – 1. a mass of bubbles of air or gas in a liquid film, foam fire extinguishers. Airport fire crews covered the fuselage with foam to control the fire. 2. any of various light, porous, semi-rigid or spongy materials used for thermal insulation or shock absorption. Polyurethane foam is used in packaging.
